Multiple departments use Oracle Analytics Server for Data visualization and Operational Data Modeling. It is lightning-fast for accessing huge volumes of data and also generating reports. The data set connectivity is compatible with any data source or format. Oracle Analytics Server also has AI and Machine Learning which makes our lives easier.
  • Enterprise level data modeling
  • Accurate forecasting
  • Mobile access of information with security in place
  • Not applicable
The entire deployment and configuration stage was easy and it was accessible across the organization in a matter of days. Oracle Analytics Server being a cloud-based solution helped right from Input of Bulk Data to Info preparation, Data cleaning, and finally Data Modeling. Everything was visual and the Help Wizard was very intuitive.

We are looking to both use and sell products that help us monitor and aggregate data for us and our clients. Oracle's name and reputation are one that is not surpassed. We believe using advanced analytical programs, like Oracle's, will help us stay on top of emerging technologies as well as accomplish our goal of utilizing the data of our company and clients to its fullest.
  • Find anomalies.
  • Understand anomalies.
  • Fix anomalies.
  • Help prevent the problems that it shows us.
  • More AI but with human back up.
  • Less mumbo jumbo so even IT guys/gals can more easily work.
  • More statistics (math) and orientation for those not familiar with it.
  • More live as well as virtual (live) show casing of real situations in business.
Oracle, for anyone that is slightly interested in the goings-on within companies, especially large influential ones on a world scale, know that like IBM and such, is soo admired, that even entities larger than it, have tried to 'knock it' down. But as in life and with man, it is impossible to keep a good thing 'down'. :)

We needed an AI analytics platform to provide a full range of capabilities, including AI that quickly presented key insights into your datasets, data enrichment capabilities that automatically recommended new elements for analysis, and machine learning capabilities to the insurance company's data scientists.
  • Natural language query.
  • Machine learning on data.
  • Data enrichment features.
  • Dashboard.
  • Data enrichment has slower new data discovery performance and its configuration is difficult.
  • News templates for dashboard.
Recommendation for the artistic composition of multiple corporate dashboards and filmmaker's data work. Not recommended as a PII or GDPR data discovery source.

Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite, which I will refer from hereon as OBIEE has been heavily used by my current company. We have been using OBIEE for a while but in a limited area. In 2015 thru the 1ADM project, JDE was implemented as an ERP system in ADM. Then OBIEE and its suite of products were chosen for the reporting, data and analytics portion. OBIEE is being used by the whole organization. Some are heavy users and others are moderate. Adhoc query, robust dashboards and enterprise-level reporting are some of the most used features in our company. OBIEE has helped us to solve many business issue and concerns but the main area where it brings value is in operation thru the timely supply of vital information.
  • OBIEE does the ad-hoc query very well. as long as the data is governed, the ad-hoc query is a robust and heavily used feature.
  • OBIEE has one of the best dashboard feature in enterprise level reporting.
  • It has a robust feature for the analytics and data analysis.
  • If scorecards are designed and implemented properly, OBIEE can become every department's go-to tool for reporting.
  • It is expensive to implement.
  • It is time consuming to implement.
  • The learning curve is not as flat as some of the other products in the market for general users.
For a larger sized company that is very process-oriented, this tool can be a blessing. Governed data will give good results, otherwise, it can be a waste of time and money. Compared to the cost and time of implementation and training, participation and buy-in from all departments are important to see the ROI.

The Oracle BI Foundation Suite is used by my Department. The Oracle BI Foundation Suite has two main purposes. First, for real-time data visualization. Second, for analytics on questions individuals may have.
  • The visualizations produced by Oracle BI Foundation are fairly good.
  • Oracle BI Foundation Suites is easy to use.
  • The software is relatively straight-forward is collaborating with others.
  • Although the visualizations are decent, they are nowhere near as nice as the charts produced by Tableau and other BI software tools.
  • Because Oracle BI Foundation Suite is relatively less well-known, finding help online is not as easy as other BI tools.
  • The BI Foundation Suite offers some analytics but is not as advanced as other tools in machine learning, and other analytics processes.
I would recommend Oracle BI Foundation Suite for two reasons. First, if you already use other Oracle tools, BI Foundation Suite will fit in nicely. Second, Oracle BI is relatively easy to learn and the collaborative ability with co-workers is quite nice.

At the time we used the software it was being utilized by a specific department, account management and technology consulting. The information/data is passed down through all departments (the reporting) but management uses it to determine where time is spent for clients, employees, reoccurring issues, etc. This product is nice so we from an IT prospective can pass off ownership and utilization of the actual product to other members of the team/department so we can continue to manage backend reporting. Once in-house members and clients are taught how to use the software, IT can take a step back and not have to run needed reports.
  • Reporting, for our company and when recommending it to our clients its a huge selling point.
  • Especially the granular graphs, they can be adjusted for what each needed person (CFO, CEO, Managers) specifically requires.
  • It's also helpful to determine where the "bottlenecking" could be occurring within workflow.
  • Although after a quick tutorial or testing from an IT end, some users struggle with learning the software.
  • This is not uncommon for a learning curve but having quicker resources to point users to for learning would be beneficial. Something such as a direct video less than 5 minutes on how to complete specific functions will help the training.
Honestly, IT appreciates the product however pricing is a huge concern when pitching new incentives to clients or internally. We know this going into these meetings and having a proper presentation helps secure a better foundation when pitching to the team. We've been very detailed and straight to the point at the same time which helps. However a small/medium size company has been difficult to pull off. Having a plan that will work overtime for these companies will help get the product in use for clients to see the full potential and consider long term usage.

We use Oracle BI Foundation Suite enterprise wide across the organization. It serves as our primary reporting tool for corporate reporting and fulfills regional reporting needs.
  • Centralized Dashboards that answer key business questions regarding performance and need to knows. The tool is dynamic in that is can provide not only individual queries, but also enterprise wide dashboard reports.
  • Dynamic reporting for one to 1000s of users depending on the server infrastructure.
  • Javascript and SQL integration allow you to create customized reports to meet just what your users need.
  • The tool has a high learning curve and can take time to master.
  • The tool cannot uptake data in other formats easily. The data must be structured in specific tables and set up in the middle layer.
  • Due to the complexity of the tool, there can be bugs in the development that occur at random which can be difficult to trace to the tool or the environment.
Well suited for a large scale enterprise need for reporting. Good security layers. Complex environment and likely requires multiple people involved in the implementation. Thoroughly examine your own companies BI needs before implementing as BI tools are not one size fits all. Ask about training and support options, the different layers of the tool (front end, middle ware and end user layer).

First, I want to clarify that we are using OBIEE stand-alone - mapping Supply Chain, Financial, Sales data from our data warehouse into the rpd. There are numerous departments using the tool, however, not the entire company. It is the primary BI tool used at HGS.
  • Powerful tool providing analytics without the business needing to understand SQL or database tables.
  • Interface is logically organized for quick and easy start up, but also allows for complex report building.
  • Multiple usage models - ad-hoc querying, dashboards with pre-defined prompting, report scheduling, data level security
  • The performance of the web interface has degraded with 11g. Moving between screens used to be instantaneous. It now takes several seconds. All navigation is slower.
  • Support team at Oracle is difficult to work with. I'd say they know the answer to the problem at best 50% of the time. They request numerous files and don't seem to look at them. They always recommend upgrading which is an easy task.
  • Installation and configuration is much more complex in 11g. We used to be able to perform a major upgrade in 6 weeks. Now it takes that long for a small patch. All patches have to be tested extensively as they always introduce some new problem.
More appropriate for a large enterprise. Price is an issue.
